Penumbra Launches SwiftSET Neuro Embolization Coil, Designed to Set Precisely and Securely

Penumbra recently launched its SwiftSET™ Coil, a new complex coil solution designed for adaptive embolization. SwiftSET is engineered to optimize vessel wall apposition through its shape configuration and to facilitate smooth deployment and natural conformity to tight spaces for dense occlusion in small vessels.

SwiftSET to Anchor

SwiftSET expands the procedural capabilities of the Swift™ Coil System, allowing physicians to set an anchor and fill with space-seeking SwiftPAC™ coils. These attributes make it well-suited for a variety of neurovascular conditions, including intracranial aneurysms and other neurovascular abnormalities such as arteriovenous malformations and arteriovenous fistulae.

“SwiftSET allows for efficient, controllable occlusion due to its design to begin anchoring in a vessel upon deployment,” says Dr. Benjamin Yim, dual-trained neurosurgeon with John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA. “Our early experience shows that deploying and setting this Swift coil in a targeted area of the vessel supports both precision and stability as embolization progresses.”

SwiftSET has a .135” primary diameter coil that is designed to provide volume and softness. Its shape configuration is designed to optimize vessel wall apposition, conforming to the vessel to promote occlusion.

SwiftPAC to Seek
