Peripheral Vascular Devices
Penumbra’s Indigo® System, launched in 2014, is a Continuous Aspiration Mechanical Thrombectomy system designed to remove clot from arteries and veins in the peripheral vasculature. The Indigo System utilizes the Pump MAX™ to deliver nearly pure, continuous vacuum to our catheters to address thrombus in vessels of various sizes. Penumbra's Continuous Aspiration Mechanical Thrombectomy catheters are robust, durable, trackable, and well suited to the peripheral anatomy where clots often form in long segments.
Penumbra entered the peripheral vascular market in 2013 with the launch of the Ruby® Coil, and followed in 2014 with the launch of the POD® System. Both Ruby Coil and the POD System are large-volume coils designed for embolization of the peripheral arterial and venous systems.
The POD® System is comprised of POD and Packing Coil, and is deployed with a one-click mechanical detachment handle. Like Ruby® Coil, POD and Packing Coil are large-volume coils and can be delivered through LANTERN®, a high-flow microcatheter.
POD is designed to simplify high-flow vessel sacrifice. The distal tip of the device is stiffer, helping the coil to anchor. Proximally, the coil becomes softer, allowing the device to densely pack behind the anchor segment.
Packing Coil is a soft coil able to conform to a variety of vessel sizes. Packing Coil packs densely behind a POD or Ruby Coil backstop and is available in 5 cm, 15 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm, 60 cm length options.
Penumbra’s LANTERN® Delivery Microcatheter integrates a low-profile microcatheter with a high-flow lumen for confident large-volume coil delivery to tortuous anatomy.
