Q. What is your current role at Penumbra?
I am a Logistics Specialist Level II for Domestic Shipping. I pick, pack, stock, and ship our medical supplies and devices to hospitals and other medical facilities.
Q. What aspects of your job do you enjoy most?
Working with so many wonderful people. Everyone I associate with here is superb in their own way. These people are talented and valuable to our team. Everyone works together to complete the daily tasks and helps each other when help is needed.
Q. Describe yourself at age 10. What career aspirations did you have at that age?
When I was younger, I always thought it would be fun to own a huge museum. History has always been interesting to me. I like learning about the past. Our ancestors contributed a lot and paid a great price for what we value today. Even the earliest settlers sacrificed much of what they had to ensure the many things we enjoy today.
Q. Describe a travel adventure that you’ll never forget.
I’ll never forget when I was in Australia. I was able to learn about the game of rugby. I played with a group of First Nations players who made it look so easy. It was still fun. I learned a great deal from my time in Australia and the traditions they live by.
Q. What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?
I have learned that it’s important to get up each time I fall. I need to be better at self-defeat. Keep moving forward is a good philosophy to wake up to every morning. Allow positivity and rid yourself of negative thoughts and feelings.
Q. What is your personal philosophy?
Always find the best in everyone. Don’t judge others until you’ve walked in their shoes. You don’t know the road others have traveled, so be kind and gracious. Find gratitude for people who surround you every day.
Q. Before working at Penumbra, describe the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had.
I once worked at an assisted-living facility and was able to take care of some of the most magnificent elderly people I’ve ever met. These people had lived well and had endured many challenges. Even though they had trials complicating their lives, they were happy. I gained an understanding of hard work and resilience against the odds.
