Q. What is your current role at Penumbra?

As the Digital Content Creator, I develop and execute storytelling across Penumbra’s digital and social platforms. My role includes content creation, video production, physician, patient and employee storytelling, campaign support, and translating complex clinical innovation into compelling, human-centered narratives.

Q. What drew you to Penumbra?

In search of a full-time position after graduating university I was introduced to Penumbra and captivated by the company’s innovation. Penumbra’s culture and focus on life-saving products and technologies immediately stood out to me and the opportunity to tell meaningful stories was a powerful draw.

Q. What aspects of your job do you enjoy most?

I most enjoy storytelling, especially when it allows me to see the real-world impact of our innovations on patient outcomes. Working on patient story videos has given me the opportunity to hear firsthand how blood clots can affect individuals and families, and to help give both patients and physicians a meaningful voice. By collaborating closely with our creative, marketing, engineering, and other internal teams, I translate these lived experiences into stories that raise awareness to complex conditions and highlight the life-saving technologies that can lead to better patient outcomes. Being able to share these stories in a thoughtful, authentic way is what makes my work especially meaningful.

Q. If you did not pursue your current career, what do you see yourself doing professionally?

I would likely still be working in a creative, narrative-driven role either in film, creative direction, or as a multimedia producer.

Q. What is the most important thing you have learned in the last five years?

Get out of your own way. Often times, we can be our own biggest obstacle; growth happens when you move forward despite uncertainty.

Q. What are three career lessons you’ve learned thus far?
  • Networking across not just upward. Some of the strongest collaborators are your peers, people growing alongside you, whether that’s former classmates or colleagues. These often become the strongest collaborations and lead to meaningful outcomes because you share the same drive and ambition.
  • Control the controllables. Focus on what you can control. Everything else will work out as it’s meant to.
  • The project that scares you a little bit will probably fit you perfectly and work out well.
