The thought of losing a leg would be a shock to most of us. Mrs Thomas is a schoolteacher, a runner, a mother. When she started having pain in her leg, she didn’t think that it could ultimately lead to amputation.

It turned out that Mrs Thomas had a blood clot. Luckily, it was removed in time by Dr Lakshminarayan (interventional radiologist) and his team at the Hull University Hospitals. He argues that what is medically called ‘acute limb ischemia’ is actually a ‘Leg Attack’ and should be treated as seriously as a heart attack.
