Robert Evans
Executive Vice President and General Counsel
Prior to joining Penumbra, Inc., Mr. Evans was Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Waste Connections, Inc.. Prior to joining Waste Connections, Mr. Evans had been that company’s primary outside counsel since its formation in 1997. In a little over ten years, Waste Connections grew from a start-up to become the fourth largest publicly-held solid waste company in the United States, serving over 1,500,000 customers from operations in 23 states; its annual revenues are approximately $1 billion, and its stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Evans oversaw creation of Waste Connection’s legal department and was responsible for legal aspects of corporate governance, equity and debt financings, public reporting requirements, material contracts, revolving credit financings, acquisitions, equity plan administration, general and employment litigation and regulatory inquiries. From 1978 to May 2002, Mr. Evans was a member of the Management Committee and partner in the San Francisco law firm of Shartsis Friese LLP, where he represented Smart Therapeutics from its formation through its sale to Boston Scientific. Mr. Evans holds a B.A. degree in Economics and a J.D. degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
